You can use your regular online banking to make payments for your personal income tax balance owing by adding “CRA (REVENUE) 20XX TAX RETURN” as a payee, or “CRA REVENUE TAX INSTALLMENT” to make quarterly installment payments, if required. However, you cannot use regular online banking to pay business amounts owing for GST/HST, payroll deductions or corporate taxes. Some banks have an option to pay these amounts through a tax payment portal, but this usually means additional fees. To avoid these unnecessary charges, use CRAs My Payment.
